Kampala Mosque or Gaddafi Mosque is Libya’s former President Gaddafi’s gift to Uganda, especially for its Muslim population. A looming presence in Kampala’s skyline, it is situated in Old Kampala, on Kampala Hill.
Inside Mosque Inside the mosque, the floor is adorned with beautiful carpet which was brought over from Libya, while from the ceiling hang ornate light fixtures, also from Libya; the intricacies of the light fixtures are better admired from the balcony section where the women hold prayer. Once out of the main mosque and tackling the steps to the top of the tower, you’ll be rewarded with sprawling views of the city, and on a clear day you can see Lake Victoria.
